Research in the lab focuses on several areas related to host-parasite evolution and ecology, using insects and their natural viral pathogens as a model system. We are interested in the diversity of insect rhabdoviruses, how these viruses are transmitted and sweep through host populations, and how viruses switch between host species. Recently we’ve set up a bacteria-phage system to ask general questions about pathogen host shifts in a super tractable model system. Follow the links to find out more about our research on these topics or take a look at recent publications. Current research is focusing on the ecology and evolution of pathogen host shifts.
